Green, J., et al (2007). Treatment of menopausal symptoms by qualified herbal practitioners: A prospective, randomized controlled trial. Family Practitioners, from: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

This is an abstract of a recent 2007 clinical trial to assess the effectiveness of herbal practice in the treatment of menopausal symptoms. The research was a randomized control trial at Bristol College conducted by qualified herbal practitioners. The treatment demonstrates a clinically significant reduction in menopausal symptoms and it offers an evidence to support herbal medicine as a treatment during menopause. However, the examples were limited. It deserves further examination. It is retrieved from National centre for biotechnology information (NCBI) database.

Keegan, L., (2001). Healing with complementary and alternative therapies. USA: Delmar.

This is an overview of herbal medicine, nutrition and supplements. It explains the effectiveness of herbs and some medicinal plants and indicates to us the percentage of people using herbal medicine.
The clinical studies about Black cohosh were effective in reducing hot flushes, depression and other disease. These studies confirm that about 65% of herbs have positive health benefits. However; the other researches (NCCAM, GET THE FACTS) confirm that while herbal medicine can be useful, they can cause medical problem. This overview is written by Lynn Keegan an international leader in holistic nursing; she is a professor at the university of Texas Health science centre and school of nursing.

EAP course is the best course I have ever done. A lot of knowledge and a lot of information must take it and save it in our brain.

Initially, last week, was a good week because I submitted my report. I felt relax and I will feel better when you correct it for me. I hope that there are not too many mistakes.

Secondly, in reading, I was very happy because I felt that I improved in summarizing. In addition, the annotated bibliography was good and I am doing very well.

Thirdly, in presentation, I finished preparing my topic about Reiki massage and I am ready for Tuesday. I found Reiki is a great experience especially because it promotes healing, reduces the stress as well as the pain and gives more energy to the patient.
I was surprising because Reiki is spiritually guided by life force energy and the presence of god shines around the patient which is amazing for me.

Every day, huge information go into my brain. I hope that they will stay there.

The week previous was a good week. I felt stress because of the annotated

bibliography. In order to do it, of course, we need to read a lot about our

topic “herbal medicine” and the important thing is to know how to critique.

Which is the hardest thing in the annotated bibliography? In addition, every

night I dream about my assignment and I felt that I did not submit it on

time, including a lot of mistakes, so I really am under pressure thinking all

the time about the researches.

On the other hand, in presentation, till now I id not think what topic under

herbal medicine I want to do because first I need to find a book about a

specific topic and then I will choose one.

Therefore , the problem that I found in Australia is that there are not enough

books in the libraries; we need to go and look everywhere in NSW to find a

book that we need it.

There are many things to learn in EAP course and I am so stressed about the writing because I feel that I am not very good in English. That is why I need to do anything to improve my language, especially my writing.

The lesson that interests me and at the same time is hard is the academic writing because we should not use categorical statements and I like to use it a lot .If I am not sure about my idea I do not write it, so I like to be precise more and use the categorical statement.

We need to provide evidence and facts of our writing, try to be impersonal and not to involve our feelings and our emotions into the writing, so it is a little bit hard to write without mentioning our feelings, but I thing that we will get used to it .Thus nothing is hard step by step and we will be on the top.

We learnt many things last week. In writing we took the lesson about deductive and inductive argument and the comparison between both of them and it is good to know the deductive from the inductive writing because the academic writing is almost always deductive. I found difficult at first and then I realized the difference between both of them.

In reading I liked the group discussion because we knew better each person their ideas and how they thing and also they gave many ideas in one topic which improves and develops our thinking and our knowledge.

About the listening skills, I found it easy and difficult at the same time and I need to work so hard to be at the same level of my friend. Because I cannot attend the pre-break lessons, I need to catch every thing and get every sheet and read it again and again at home to understand it very well.

In computing a lot of information needs to be saved in our brain because the program of the computer is so complicated and we need to realize and to understand how we use it very well.

Therefore all the units are linked together and we need to be up to date with every thing.

EAP class is a great class which includes too many things to learn.

The week previous was a good week. Firstly, with the writing we learnt about the topic sentence and the joining words. I liked it because every one should know how to write a good sentence and these joining words lead us to write an academic writing and to avoid the problem sentence like the fragment , the comma split, the run on, the choppy sentence and the stringy sentence. Beside, they gave us the information about our report and it is about “Herbal medicine” Furthermore, I need to put all my effort to do it very well.

Secondly, with the presentation we watched video about students doing some mistakes in their presentation, for instance, the speed of their speaking and they should give some explanation about the topic and how to react with the body language.

Thirdly, with reading we learnt about the plagiarism and we should avoid it because it is a crime. Also we have done some group work and I liked because we begin to know how other may think. In addition, I liked the way of doing summary as well as taking note because we need to concentrate so much to the lecturer to take the right notes.

Fourthly, with the computer I begin to learn many things and it is good to every one to know computer because it is an important technology in our life.

Finally, the EAP course is the best course I ever done, it includes every thing and I am so happy to do it because it let me improve.

As we know that this week is the important week, because we need to submit our report “herbal medicine”. I was working on my assignment from two weeks ago and I was so tired between my home duties and my research. I felt stress because of the huge information on the internet as well as in books.
Also my mistake was, that after I finished half of the report I realized that I should write the reference list at the back of the report however, the problem was that I did not write any reference and I need to research again, hopefully I will find it .
On the other hand, I improved in English a lot: in reading, I began to concentrate more and no need to read a paragraph more than one time .Also in the computer too, I began to know more how to use it and how to do some things on it. Hopefully at the end of this semester I will be good in everything.
